This Samsung S21 Ultra came in for Data Recovery.
It wasn't turning on & had previous water damage
Initial inspection had no signs of water anywhere on the board.
DC Power Supply would pull 41mA before prompt to boot
This usually means there's a main line short. So injecting into the main power rail, it drew the max 2A my DCPS was set to
I saw heat coming from within the sandwich layers, near the battery connector.
I split it & saw a massive charred area.
Drilled it out on both ends & confirmed the short was cleared
Reballed the sandwich & we got the data!

We get so many iPads in for repair, where we can see they replaced the battery. In most cases, the battery was not the issue.
But due to the lack of understanding of the troubleshooting steps, they replace it, costing time & possibly damaging other things on the board.
